'The Twilight Zone': 'The Comedian' and the price of success - People's World - according to Peoplesworld
What the episode has going for it is a strong lead actor, with solid supporting characters to help carry along the story. Nanjiani does well in showcasing Samir’s conflict of wanting to stay true to having meaning behind his art, but being tempted by mainstream success. Early on in the episode the message is that art is undervalued in society, and that most mainstream artists usually have to “sell out” in order to be successful. As one character notes, “Art is a noble pursuit in the world, but it’s not paying the rent.”

One of Erdman’s best roles was in the 1963 Twilight Zone episode “A Kind of Stopwatch.” Erdman plays Patrick McNulty, who acquires a stopwatch with supernatural powers. Erdman’s character can stop the movement of time, but soon gets more than he bargained for, as characters like his usually do in The Twilight Zone.
