Not sticky sweet but balanced. )Each has raised a daughter. The producer and the writers have lost the thread and are trying too hard to come up with a plot. Started out wonderful. And not very nice of him as this is a double standard.

This so called ‘normalised’ lesbian relationship was used and abused. Used to fill diversity quotas; used to pull in many LGBTI viewers and give them a place to see their life portrayed as something they could relate to; then smashed to bits for a bit of unnecessary drama! This show was relegated to the ‘also rans’ in OZ earlier this year – once the public got wind of what had happened.
Red productions must think that people are simple. Ask yourself why Kate’s mum had to be an American actress? Well so they could promote it over there! and the dialogue she was given at the funeral was ridiculous. Why was Kate seen as ‘least integral’ to the show? God knows the backlash when she was killed means they misread their audience badly.

I’m from the USA and I’ve never seen the actress who plays Kate’s mother before. I did think it was ridiculous for Kate to be killed. I’m sure if they needed drama for Caroline and Kate they could have come up with something else. I just watched the last of season three and it seemed like they were stopping the show by the way it ended. Are we just not getting it here any longer or is the series over?

The only way that Caroline’s sexuality won’t be a hook is if she finds love with another woman. I’ll never understand why Sally killed off Kate when to bring Celia and Caroline back together when all she had to do was kill off Caroline’s eldest son. Sally herself stated that she killed Kate purely for a reason to bring Celia and Caroline back together. Hey, I know, why don’t we recast Caroline’s son who basically isn’t even in the season because, y’know, school and just kill off the lesbian character!? Isn’t that a neat idea?

No, Sally, it isn’t. It’s stale, it’s offensive and it undoes (and this is just my opinion) some of the steps this show helped the LGBT community take. While it won’t ever erase the good it did, I have actually not seen the last three episodes of Season Three, nor will I ever, nor will I watch any other seasons which is obviously entirely my choice and my loss but I just.. I can’t! Kate! Kate was like…. legendary!

Fabulous show! Those of us addicted to yet another British drama, will be quite sad to see the final season. However, Scott and Bailey, a modern Cagney and Lacy, is a stellar detective drama.

I hope show never ends. Was sad to see Kate be killed off. That relationship could have gone in all sorts of directions. Not a good decision but I will watch as many seasons they can produce. Lovable characters. All the US shows are too violent with ruthless, unlovable characters. I live PBS.

This show is first rate. I live in America but grew up in Northern England. The characters take me back home. They have such depth. The writing is superb as is the acting. I do so hope there is another season (and many more to come) I. Hope it will show in America. I am longing to be taken home again. Thank you to everyone who so obviously worked so hard to make it superb.

Oh, dear Ms. Wainwright: PUH-LEESE Keep Writing. Please go beyond Season 4. I adore these characters. Want to see more of Robbie–he’s such a hunk of a sweet man. Please let him & Gilliam be reunited by her confessing how his brother abused her physically AND mentally. That would be a fabulous scenario.
What about the pigheaded Laurence? Something about his coming to see Kate for the sensitive human being she was? More on the sensitve, loving son, William?

Would love to see Caroline have some more joy….Please don’t always torture everyone so!
I’ve bought Seasons 1&2+ an acquaintance has said she is buying Season 3 as a gift. I wouldn’t mind going for 4 AND 5 AND 6. If Julian Fellowes could go to SIX, why can’t you, dear writer? Hope you’ll see fit /wall these suggestions from your viewers! —

I just want to add that the entire cast and crew deserve BAFTAs; everyone is equally brilliant. The drunken Judith’s appearance @ Caroline’s door and her collapsing backwards into bloody heap so that C had to rush her to hospital was MAH-velous. The whole drama of Celia’s stonewalling against including Kate and then her repentance of going to Kate’s house did sorta let the bigot off a tad too easily, didn’t it? Glad, however, that C and K were reunited. They absolutely should have had a bit more time together–Kate’s death was just TOO quick-just like the death of Lady Mary’s 1st husband. Good grief!

I love this show, and am anxiously awaiting season4, even though I think some of the plot lines are a bit far fetched. Superb actors all around.

Among all the other shows with killing and drugs ,this show is so refreshing.
And even with the juicy crisis that goes on ,It shows the human and loving side of people. The expectations of relationships ,as well as the disappointments, and finally the joining together as a family. I LOVE IT ! and I think i am a pretty good critic.

All the cast is so good, However Sarah is my favorite. I love her.
Please keep on with this wonderful show.

I have watched Series 1-3 of LTIH so often, I can practically recite a good portion of the lines. The show is absolutely wonderful, and is one I plan to add to my collection of British TV / cinema DVDs. I’m anxiously awaiting the start of Series 4. The characters are so well written and acted. There’s nothing like it on American TV. I hope there are no plans to do an American version; there’s just no point in toying with what has already been perfected.

Like some other fans, I was also sad to see Kate killed off, but that’s life, isn’t it? They were so very happy for such a short time. So were Romeo and Juliet. Happily ever after doesn’t make for very good drama.

So bring on Gillian’s trouble with marrying the brother of the husband she killed. Surely that has made it’s way into the plot for Series 4.

Can’t wait!

I live in the USA. Before I retired, I was a Choir Master in Manchester for 13 years. I love the UK dearly and the wonderful programming on Television there. Fortunately, via Netflix, my family and I greatly enjoy many of the British programs. Last Tango in Halifax is superb as are many other “shows”. We network here and phone each other to say : “Oh you MUST watch (this or that”). I have recently finished my rounds of phoning to my relatives throughout the USA to promote Last Tango…. Thank you for superb writing and most excellent casting. I have always admired Mr. Jacobi in many things; but, LTIH is one of my favorite roles for him. Blessings to all in the UK. I miss living and working there.
