Sando is a force of nature, her "do 'em a deal" motto serving well enough that she's taken the single outlet she inherited and built it into an empire. Or, as her mother says dismissively, "you've turned my beautiful boutique store into a bargain-basement furniture whorehouse for bogans".

Sando, who's best described as a combination of Harvey Norman's Geoff Harvey and Joyce Mayne according to Horler, isn't ready to admit her mistake but at the same time spends the series trying to get back into her family's good books.

Gardening Australia will have a new berth and a longer running-time when it returns from its summer break in 2018. The 29th (!) season of the popular show hosted by Costa Georgiadis will return on January 26 in a one-hour format. The shift to 7.30pm on Friday – which is the night Gardening Australia aired from 1990 to 2004 – will allow more time for deeper stories as well as practical tips and advice. "The new one-hour slot on a Friday at 7.30 means people will be armed with all the info they need to spend a successful and enjoyable weekend in the garden, whether they are complete novices or seasoned professionals," says an ABC spokesperson.
